Don't get me wrong. I love Harry Potter and would love to be a wizard, but allowing muggle-borns to purchase wands BEFORE they start learning about the responsibility that comes with performing magic seems a bit dangerous. That would be like driving to your permit test...alone...in a tank.

Well, we've only seen what I like to call the "You're a Wizard, Harry" process from Harry's side... and, admittedly, Harry only had Hagrid, who came with cake. Muggle-borns actually have a competent wizard or witch introduce them to Diagon Alley. And it's probably done in a more responsible manner.

@Linden That's a totally valid point. We don't really get to see what happens to regular muggle-borns. Also, I wish Hagrid would bring me cake.

WHy would you wish that? Everyone knows Hagrrid's baking can break your teeth!

@Estella: Because then I could meet Hagrid! I would eat a cake made out of bricks and cement icing if Hagrid brought it!
